“You can’t keep doing the same old, same old.” Galway’s ‘pMad’ evokes memories of Warsaw, and early JAMC
GALWAY’s pMad – the musical brainchild of Paul Dillon – have teamed up with Italian musician Marco Menazzi’s Think to release new single ‘Chance’ under the collective name, ‘Think.pMad,’ the song tackling themes of resilience, hope, and the courage to embrace new beginnings.
‘Chance’ offers a clear insight into Dillon’s influences, including Tom Waits, Public Enemy, and The The, but there’s also welcome traces of John McGeoch, the industrial, buzzsaw guitar atmosphere of Jesus and Mary Chain, and the manic energy of early Warsaw.
“It was a chance message to pMad from Marco that got me thinking,” said Dillon. “I loved the guitar sound the and the vibe of the tune and Marco asked if I was interested in adding pMad’s take to it re vocals and other instruments.
“Through that then I came up with the lyrics, a rough bass line and some other edits. Then I enlisted Hugo GT, a producer in Canada, to put it all together and that’s how you arrive at the ‘Chance‘ we hear today. The collaboration was a natural fit, and Think brought an inspiring perspective to the track. It’s always great to push the boundaries, you can’t keep doing the same old, same old.”
