What time is it Mr Wolf? Well, it’s time for Mr Wolf and Mr Wolf . . .

BLENDING elements of garage, blues and primitive, trash punk, Switzerland’s WOLFWOLF have unveiled new album, ‘Totentanz,’ the perfect vehicle to showcase their evolution not only as musicians, but also storytellers from another world, a world where bizarre is not only tolerated, but encouraged.

For over a decade, the band – comprising Mr Wolf and Mr Wolf – have captivated the underground music scene with abstract narratives, their distinctive sound and themes of mortality weaving tales of life and death with their signature comic flair.

“Maybe it would be good to watch a Jim Jarmusch Movie to understand WolfWolf,” said Mr Wolf, a.k.a. Marcel Frank. “We basically love to wrap our lyrics in weird tales to hide the real stories behind them. We’ve always seen WolfWolf as more than just a band. It’s a universe of freaks and dark creatures that we’ve created over the years with our songs.”

‘Totentanz’ [Dance of Death] takes listeners on a journey through the lives of characters often overlooked, from the melancholic to the macabre, each track offering a glimpse into the vibrant, yet eerie, world of its creators.

Black Hole’ serves as an ode to the gravitational pull of despair, while ‘Ghost Of Bran’ channels spectral energies into a haunting narrative of vengeance and eternal longing.

With ‘Heidi Is Alive,’ the duo spin a tale of unintended consequences and existential dread, all set against a backdrop of frenetic instrumentation and evocative lyrics.

‘Holy Water’ blends dark humor with sinister undertones in an exploration of religious obsession, while ‘It’s Hot In Hell’ fills out the album with a sense of foreboding, inviting listeners to confront the inevitability of their own mortality.

“When we started WolfWolf we first had to learn how to write songs that work stripped down with only one guitar and drums as there is no possibility to create a harmony with a bassline for example,” added Mr. Wolf, a.k.a Reto Eller. “I think the deepest musical roots of WolfWolf lie with Surfer Rosa by the Pixes.”

‘Totentanz’ is released in collaboration with Ghost Highway Recordings, Lux Noise, and Off Label Records. Recorded at Food Corner Studio in Rorbas by long-time collaborator Lukas Speissegger, mixing duties were handled by Harry Darling at Lux Noise Studios, Basel, with mastering by Robin Schmidt at 24-96 Mastering, Karlsruhe.
