VIDEO OF THE WEEK: Ed Memphis – ‘Too Lame’ (Beat by BP Traxxx)
“I can never forget shooting ‘Too Lame’ because it was my first real music video and it was the result of so many positive shifts in my life after so much struggle and hard work.
We shot the video in the Bankhead area of Atlanta, Georgia, and the location was a church literally right next door to my townhouse at the time.
It was a four-man crew which consisted of myself, my wife, my best friend and the director whom I had just met in person for the first time that day.
The concept of the video was inspired by the church scene in Eddie Murphy’s film ‘Vampire In Brooklyn,’ with a Covid twist being the video was shot a few months after the pandemic begin in 2020.
Extremely cold night we happened to shoot it and we didn’t start filming until around 10pm that night. I was so nervous but also excited, so I took a shot to knock the edge off which I normally don’t drink.
We actually shot two videos that night, so after we finished shooting ‘Too Lame’ we shot ‘Swamp’ right across the street, and it looks like two totally different sceneries!”
