Tolü Makay’s blissful ‘I Am’ showcases new six-track EP ‘People Still Cry in Summer’
Irish Nigerian singer Tolü Makay today unveils new six-track EP ‘People Still Cry in Summer’ a collection of songs focussed on resilience, healing, and self-discovery, with the blissful ‘I Am’ selected as the lead track.
Written over the past four years, the songs origins are found in voice notes, poems, and moments of reflection that turned into Makay’s way of processing a number of challenging moments in her life.
“My last EP, ‘Being’ released in 2020, captured an earlier stage of my journey,” she said. “’People Still Cry in Summer’ continues that map of self-discovery. These songs reflect how I’ve had to rebuild my confidence, shed shame, and reclaim my voice after years of personal and industry challenges. This project is about resilience, a reminder that we are always more than our pain.”
Tolü Makay LIVE: Oct 08: Ireland Fashion Week * Oct 25: Cork Jazz Festival * Oct 26: Grove House, Westport
