THE WESLEYS perform power pop perfection on new EP ‘Explosive Device’

OUT of Montréal THE WESLEYS unveil new EP ‘Explosive Device,’ paired with 2022 debut ‘Outside Voices’ for the band’s first vinyl release, available via Meritorio Records (US/EU), and Petit Village Records (CAN).

Highlighting the band’s power pop prowess, lead track ‘Release Me!’ brings forth heady memories of prime Modern Lovers and early The Lemonheads, the song recorded in Montréal with Monty (Pre-Occupations), mixed by Adrian Popovich (Tricky Woo, American Lips, Physical Congas).

Formed in 2022, the lineup comprises Henry Girard, William D’Amours, Quentin Chisholm, and Pablo Garcia.

“All the songs on our previous recordings we all recorded at different times and locations,” said Garcia. “With Explosive Device recorded all at once in the same studio, connected these songs together more cohesively.

“Only after fleshing out the song musically, we look at who we think best suits the song. For the song Explosive Device, the melody presented itself to me. For the song Permanent Vacation, Quentin threw his hat in to write the vocals.”
