The devil may be calling JESSIE REID, but her response is an early ‘single of the year’ contender
‘The Devil Calls,’ the first single working with producer Joseph Futak (The Howl & The Hum, My Mercury) and taken from JESSIE REID’s second album due September 2025, is a call to arms for those needing encouragement to break bad habits – whatever they may be – and further solidifies Reid’s position as one of the UK’s finest female singer-songwriters.
“The song addresses the need many of us have to break a cycle of negative behaviour,” she explains. “It can be too easy to give in to bad habits, and to put off attempts to break those habits until the next day, and then the next day, and so on. But if we encourage each other to look for meaning beyond the mundane and to be ambitious, we all have a better chance of finding purpose and direction.”
Reid’s raw, emotional indie-folk has already racked up over nine million streams, with 2024’s highlights including a Glastonbury Festival debut with two sets on the Acoustic Stage, three sold-out London shows opening for Loudon Wainwright III, and a short tour of Ireland.
