Tales of tattered carny posters, endless farm fields and collapsing barns: UGLY STICK’s ‘Absinthe’ gets long-overdue reissue

COURTESY of Portland’s Hovercraft Records, Ohio cow-punk, garage, roots-rock outfit UGLY STICK reissue their 1993 magnum opus ‘Absinthe’ album – complete with bonus live, and studio material.

Formed in Delaware, Ohio in 1989 and steeped in the fabric of small town, shrinking industrial landscapes of Middle America, the four-piece captured perfectly the tension and desperation of a bygone era, tattered carny posters blowing in the wind, endless farm fields and collapsing barns.
