SONG OF THE WEEK: REVIVALRY ‘Two Sips’
OFFICIALLY the youngest band to grace the main stage at Kendal Calling, North East Lincolnshire’s REVIVALRY have released their second single, ‘Two Sips,’ via Manchester’s indie label, Cosmic Glue.
The song – and video – is a raucous soundtrack to one of ‘those’ teenage house parties, cheap beer, teenage angst, chaos, fear, excitement, first loves, first drinks and fist fights. It may well be ‘The Reytons meets The Inbetweeners,’ but undeniably, it’s pure Revivalry.
“It started with a riff, as it nearly always does,” said drummer, Lewis Hubbert.
“Ben Townsend (guitar) brings that, and everything follows from there. Because we are a three piece, we use sonics around the bass instead of a rhythm guitar, so Josh Corfield (bass/vocals) builds around the riff, and I set the beat. The structure of the song tends to just build from here with all three of us in a room together. At times it can be painful, Ben is a perfectionist, Josh is keen to keep the flow of writing going and I’m pretty laid back – somewhere in the middle of that triangle is the sweet spot.”
The teenage trailblazers exploded onto the alternative circuit within the past twelve months and have already shared stages with Reverend & The Makers, The Reytons, and The Lathums.
