Shake, RATTLE, and double-drum roll. It’s ‘Your Move’

NOTTINGHAM’s double-drummer duo RATTLE – Katharine Eira Brown and Theresa Wrigley – have today shared the single and video ‘Your Move (Upset the Rhythm),’ the first from February 2025’s album, ‘Encircle.

The fifteen-minute masterpiece is mesmeric and boundless, hypnotic in its drumming minimalism and often wordless, almost tribal vocals of Eira Brown.

“The images in my head for the first half of ‘Your Move’ were water – reflecting in pools and flowing,” she said. “Then the second half is like it is stuck in an endless slow-moving cycle. The bit in-between is the flitting in-between, we wanted it to feel like a CD getting stuck. The words ‘Your Move’ might be about moving in an embodied way or freedom, movement, expression, but they are also an emboldening call to action, it’s your turn, what are you going to do, what’s your next move?”

‘Your Move’ was recorded at Foel Studios, Wales, produced and mixed by Mark Jasper, and mastered at Liminal Audio by Shaun Crook.

‘Encircle’ will be the duo’s third long player, following 2016’s self-titled debut ‘Rattle,’ and 2018’s ‘Sequence.’
