Prepare for some Senseless Dancing: BALAAM AND THE ANGEL announce new material & UK tour as 40th anniversary approaches
CULT alt-rockers BALAAM AND THE ANGEL celebrate their 40th anniversary with the release of new material, and by announcing a November UK tour.
The brothers Morris, Mark (bass/vocs), Jim (guitar/keys), and Des (drums), achieved huge success in the ‘80s, signing to Virgin Records for debut album ‘The Greatest Story Ever Told,’ and touring with The Mission, Kiss, The Cult, Aerosmith and Iggy Pop.
However, they stepped away from working as a group, developing careers away from the music industry. But October will witness the release of their ‘Forces of Evil’ EP, a collection of recently recorded songs, and the first release of new music for three decades.
“The process of creating this collection of songs has been incredibly unique and has prompted us to revisit some previously overlooked ideas,” said Jim. “The track ‘Forces Of Evil’ had its origins way back in the start of our musical journey. It was a song that we had set aside because the lyrics seemed too naïve and simplistic however fast forward four decades and we have a set of lyrics and sentiment that could not be more current and universally appropriate.”
The EP was recorded at Manchester’s Oxygene Studios with Christoph Bride (The Chameleons, Kirk Brandon/Theatre Of Hate/ Spear Of Destiny) and will only be available on coloured vinyl or vinyl picture disc, there will be no CD or cassette.
