PORTUGAL. THE MAN head to the ‘Denali’ mountaintop
ALASKAN-bred, Portland-based indie-favourites PORTUGAL. THE MAN return to their roots on latest single ‘Denali,’ named after the renowned Alaskan mountain.
Following the success of summer EP, ‘uLu Selects Vol #2,’ ‘Denali’ snarls along with distorted synths and a guitar grunge-grind beneath frontman John Gourley’s earthy vocals.
The band also announce their ‘Denali Headline Tour’ beginning November 6 in Portland, before taking in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York, D.C., and Austin.
Portugal. The Man released the now RIAA-certified Platinum album, ‘Woodstock’ in 2017 with the single ‘Feel It Still,’ earning them a GRAMMY for ‘Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.’
Away from the music, the band have exhibited a commitment to both activism, launching the Pass The Mic Foundation in 2020, focused on human rights issues, community health, and the environment, with an emphasis on causes directly impacting Indigenous Peoples, including Alaska Native Health and Seeding Sovereignty.
Portugal. The Man are also committed to raising awareness and funds for the DHDDS community through the Frances Changed My Life campaign, created in honour of Gourley’s daughter, Frances.
