PEYROUX returns with introspective, ‘How I Wish’
INSPIRED by Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Marian Anderson and many others, America’s MADELEINE PEYROUX has released the contemplative ‘How I Wish,’ a track from her upcoming, ‘Let’s Walk’ album, out June 28 via Thirty Tigers.
The song’s aim is to serve as a reflection on America’s racial legacy, inspired by events in recent history such as the killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery in early 2020.
‘Let’s Walk’ is Peyroux’s first album in six years, and marks her first collection of original material co-written with longtime collaborator Jon Herington. It is an eclectic, introspective, and daring work addressing both personal and societal themes, weaving together a rich tapestry of jazz, folk, gospel blues, Americana, and Latin rhythms.
