Out of LA – TANGIENTS drop post-punk gothgaze long-player ‘Embers’

LA-based duo TANGIENTS – collaborative project of Chelsea Hope Ray and Be Hussey – reveal debut album ‘Embers,’ a deep, dark dive into the world of post-punk gothgaze.

“There were moments where I was letting life happen to me instead of creating my own direction,” said Ray. “This record documents that, but it also marks the beginning of choosing a different path. It’s a cry for nostalgia in its most yearning form as well as an awakening to the unknown.”

‘Embers’ deals with themes of heartbreak, self-reflection, and the inner strength required to continue – album opener and standout track ‘We Are Listening’ rising from Hussey’s synth foundation, building to Ray’s wonderous, sacred, choral incantation. With its beating heart supplied by the tones of a 1963 Hammond A-100 organ, the song serves as homage to the singer’s late grandmother, a lifelong church musician.
