On Any Given Sunday. . .
AS Al Pacino’s character Tony D’Amato said in Any Given Sunday, “On any given Sunday you’re gonna win or you’re gonna lose. The point is you can always take a look at MusicLoveMusic’s weekly roundup…” Or that’s how I remember the scene anyway.
This week ten artists/groups covering a diverse range of genres, including from Ireland via Nigeria, Tolü Makay’s blissful ‘I Am’ which showcases her new six-track EP, ‘People Still Cry In Summer.’
Kate Bush provided the Video of the Week with ‘Cloudbusting’ from 1985’s ‘Hounds of Love’ album, the film directed by Julian Doyle, conceived by Terry Gilliam and Kate Bush, and featuring Donald Sutherland.
Birmingham’s Solar Eyes finally released their outlandish but wonderful second album, ‘Live Freaky! Die Freaky!’ via Fierce Panda Records. The album’s title arriving via one of the subheadings in Tom O’Neill’s ‘CHAOS: The Truth Behind The Manson Murders,’ which takes an in-depth look at the investigations and background motives for the 1969 Tate-LaBianca murders.

An album as intriguing as the book, I’m halfway through reading it. Conspiracy theories abound; there’s nothing wrong with that.
TORONTO’s multi-instrumentalist, alt/indie musician Steve Lewin and his solo BETA TRIP project launched debut album ‘Superette’ via Having Fun Records. Written, performed and produced entirely by Lewin, the ten-track long-player overflows with reflective Elbow-esque storytelling, expansive layered guitars, vulnerability, and personal growth.
FROM Property of the Lost Records home of the mavericks and misfits, HOWLIN’ GRASSMAN Vs STOMPIN’ BIGFOOT prepare to unveil mail order only LP and CD, ‘The Wild One Of The Wood Is Back In The City.‘ It’s as bonkers as it sounds, yet guaranteed to put the small Brittany seaside town of Plougastel-Daoulas firmly on music’s map of geniuses.
Mexican love songs, classic punk and the sounds of The Ramones feature on ‘Hanging Onto You,’ the latest single from GRADE 2, while New Jersey’s THE MELANCHOLY KINGS have been working overtime with the XTC inspired teaser for next month’s ‘Her Favourite Disguise’ album (Magic Door Record Label), latest single ‘Bitcoin Elegy.’
Nashville-based former New York attorney ALEXANDRA KING sings of her love for Ireland on debut EP ‘Across The Pond,’ focus track ‘Lose Me To Dublin’ detailing her musical and personal connections to the Emerald Isle.
Portland-based producer FENRA offers up dreamy, ambient, acoustic debut single ‘COFFEE’ via 6x Records, with Milford, Pennsylvania-based, alt pop singer, songwriter and storyteller CELESTE CORSANO channeling her inner Elizabeth Fraser and Joni Micthell on latest single ‘XS’ released via ‘Magic Door Record Label.’
This week’s inbox was also full of music that deserved nothing more than to be taken into the woods, destroyed, buried, and never spoken of again – that’s why we only feature music we can feel the love for.
