‘Never Gave You The Blues’ YOUNG MARTYRS “It’s about the breakdown of something beautiful”
BATH’s alt-americana outfit YOUNG MARTYRS feat Natalie Brice reveal music video for latest single ‘Never Gave You The Blues.’
The song was produced with Sebastian Brice (Indefra Studios) at Real World Studios and features guest vocals from Natalie Brice (Sinnober).
“‘Never Gave You The Blues’ is about the breakdown of something beautiful, but he sees it one way and she sees it another,” said vocalist, Tom Corneill. “He says if he’d known it was going to hurt them both he would never have started it – but we know that’s not really true. It’s a classic he said she said story, and not everyone can be telling the truth.
“This was the second single from our second album and was always a favourite for us but being a self-funded band, we’d run out of budget after recording the album and releasing its first single. When we finished our first UK tour of sellout shows, this was the song everyone shouted for the most, so when we finally got some funding we knew we had to put something special together for it.”
Young Martyrs released their self-titled debut album in 2020 and have gone on to share the stage with Badly Drawn Boy, The Hooziers, McFly, and securing appearances at Glastonbury and Rock Oyster. The band are currently at work in the studio with new material due 2026.
Joining Corneill in the band are, Rich Beeby (bass/vocs), Lee Cole (drums/vocs), and Simon Whitehead (guitar).
