Hypnotic groove, dub rhythm, jazz and sax masterpiece: NEVARIS bring the ‘Remedy – Live’

MANHATTAN’s NEVARIS unveil second offering from upcoming ‘SoundSession EP,’ the hypnotic groove, dub rhythm, jazz and sax masterpiece, ‘Remedy – Live.’

The ‘SoundSession EP’ is the fourth collaboration between percussionist Agustín Nevaris, and bassist/producer Bill Laswell. The nine-piece ensemble involved in ‘Remedy – Live’ includeDJ Logic, Jonathan Maron, Angel Rodriguez, Will Bernard, Peter Apfelbaum, Jojo Kuo, Lockatron, and Matt Dickey.

“The title ‘Remedy’ speaks to the power of music to bring healing to our bodies and minds, especially during troubled times like the present,” said Nevaris. “The song was originally written by Bill Laswell and me, and Jonathan Maron does an amazing job of bringing the basslines to life in this version. We all need remedies in this world, and hopefully, the song will have a positive effect on those who hear it.”

“’SoundSession’ is about playing together live without being stressed by ticket sales or a venue accommodating so many musicians,” added Nevaris. “Bill Laswell’s studio in West Orange, New Jersey, has always been an inspiring place with so much history, the live room is something magnificent. So this was a chance to use the full space of this sizeable room. From the first notes, we could tell there was something good happening. And the recording documents it exactly as it was, with no overdubs or edits. Every note feels right from my perspective – exactly how it happened in real time.”

’SoundSession’ was produced by Agustín Nevaris, recorded at Orange Sound, New Jersey, recorded and mixed by James Dellatacoma, and mastered by Michael Fossenkember at Turtletone Studios.
