NATHANIEL RATELIFF & THE NIGHT SWEATS
NATHANIEL RATELIFF & THE NIGHT SWEATS have just unveiled new single, ‘David and Goliath,’ from their fourth studio album, ‘South of Here’ released next month via Stax.
Rateliff is at his magnetic, engaging best over marching keys, electric guitar and organ from The Night Sweats. Both emotional and anthemic, the track is direct look into Rateliff’s internal dialogue.
“Anxiety, the intense, excessive, and persistent worry and fear about everyday situations, feels to the person experiencing it as impossible of a battle as David slaying a giant,” he said, “This is the first track of our new record and deals directly with the battle with oneself.”
Proud of their Denver roots, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats have released three LPs, two EPs, and a live album, and next month’s South of Here is one more great leap forward. Bound by the struggle for identity and the search for belonging, the reverberates with the understanding we’re all in this beautiful mess together.
Produced by Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Bon Iver, Kevin Morby) and recorded at Sonic Ranch outside El Paso, Texas, South of Here reckons with a lifetime of pain and trauma, transforming into a stirring, soul-baring meditation on love, loss, hope and resolve.
