MORNING STAR MUSIC CLUB release two singles & announce new April album
MORNING STAR MUSIC CLUB announce the release of their soul and groove laden fifth album Liminal Zone (Disco-Ordination Records) and share two new tracks today, ‘Spiritual Guide,’ and ‘Drifting.’
The musical project is led by Jesse D. Vernon (This Is the Kit, John Parish, The Moonflowers) and was previously known as ‘Morning Star,’ with the band’s name recently extended to acknowledge the collective involved in the new material, recorded in four days at the Paris Audioscope studio, with production from long-term collaborator, John Parish.
Liminal Zone was written by Vernon (vocs/guitar/piano), with support from Philippe Sirop (drums), Abby Tsype (bass/vocs), Lisa Weisslinger (guitar/vocs), Yohav Oremiatzki (guitar/vocs), Palotai (guitar), Boris Boublil (keys), Robin Finker (tenor sax), Stew Crookes (pedal steel), Flóp (cuica and stylophone), Owen O’Neill (bari-sax/synths). Additional vocals from Kate Stables (This Is the Kit) and daughter Mo.
‘Spiritual Guide’ [above] taps into Jesse’s love of ‘50s and ‘60s gospel and blues, with second single, the equally mellow ‘Drifting’ already compared to mid-period, Neil Young.
‘Liminal Zone‘ is released Wednesday April 2nd.
