Memories of Townes Van Zandt inspire RAY LAMONTAGNE’s latest single

AMERICANA, country folk singer-songwriter RAY LAMONTAGNE teases his ninth studio album, ‘Long Way Home,’ with new single ‘I Wouldn’t Change A Thing,’ released via his new Liula Records label, a song which sees the artist reflecting on his journey travelled, accepting the downs with the ups.

The core of the ‘Long Way Home’ album reverberates deep into LaMontagne’s youth, in particular seeing Townes Van Zandt perform in a small Minneapolis club.

“Thirty years later it occurs to me that every song on ‘Long Way Home’ is in one way or another honouring the journey,” he said. “The languorous days of youth and innocence, the countless battles of adulthood, some won, more often lost. It’s been a long hard road, and I wouldn’t change a minute. It took me nine songs to express what Townes managed to say in one line. I guess I still got a lot to learn.”

Produced in tandem with Seth Kauffman (Floating Action, Angel Olsen, Lana Del Ray), ‘Long Way Home’ was recorded in LaMontagne’s home studio, with both new, and long-time collaborators, including ‘The Secret Sisters’ who provided backing vocals on the opening three tracks.
