Melbourne’s Indigenous ‘guitar hero rockers with principals’ BLACKFIRE return with new single

MELBOURNE-based Indigenous guitar hero rockers with principals BLACKFIRE return with new single ‘Big Billions’ available now via Golden Robot Records, a song which continues the band’s trademark blend of social commentary and soulful, rock-tinged storytelling.

Taken from forthcoming album ‘Solar Eclipse,’ the track takes a critical look at the illusion of wealth and the cost of chasing fortune. Lyrically, ‘Big Billions’ addresses rising inequality, mental health struggles, and a rising lack of connection in modern life.

Formed in 1992, Blackfire took a break in 1999, but began reuniting for gigs from 2018, with original members Selwyn Burns, Grant Hansen, and Brad Brown eventually reforming the band with a new lineup.

The original trio were joined by Radical Son (lead vocs), Peter Moore (drums), Rod Crundwell (keys), Monica McDonald and Leonie Whyman (backing vocs/percussion), and Daniel Jauregui (second lead guitar).
