LEIN SANGSTER’s Northern Soul inspired ‘History Repeatin’ unveiled today ahead of June debut album

EAST LONDON-based singer-songwriter LEIN SANGSTER today releases latest single History Repeatin’ ahead of June’s debut album, ‘In Spite of Everything, The Stars’ (Chemin de Fer Records).

Sangster has had an impressive music career to date, fronting Scouse ‘80s legends and John Peel-approved ‘KIT,’ before releasing two albums as ‘Bad Anorak 404.’

History Repeatin’ is inspired by a love of Northern Soul and ‘60s R&B, a romantic song, albeit told in Sangster’s gritty style, a thread which features throughout the forthcoming long-player.

‘In Spite of Everything, The Stars,’ is an album overflowing with beautifully crafted, elegant pop laments, effortlessly blending the melancholic, the celebratory, folk, soul, and even some Spaghetti Western and mariachi inspired tones. Topics covered include unrequited love, the trauma of a life lived in poverty and the unwelcome gentrification of London, a friend’s release from prison, death, grief, and the struggles of growing up queer.

Sangster will be showcasing the new material at the following London dates:

May 05: Union Chapel (supporting Shack)

May 20: The Strongroom Bar

June 05: Biddle Bros

June 15: The Gladstone
