Lack of studio equipment no deterrent for Nigeria’s DIVARELLA

OUT of Lagos, Nigeria, emerging artist Ilo Mary Oluwatoni – ‘DIVARELLA’ – has just self-released latest single, ‘Miracle.’

Born and raised in Nigeria’s west, Oluwatoni grew up in a household where music was mainly recreational, yet still managed to make her first song aged five. Experiencing her country’s harsh economic conditions along with societal and family expectations, music became her therapy, and a much-needed outlet for her emotional creativity.

“I can’t afford the studio equipment I need,” she said, “so I make my songs on my phone with my earphones and BandLab.”

Her debut single, ‘Know Me Now’ was released in May 2022, with further releases ‘First Love,’ and ‘Reflections’ following soon after.
