Kornmeier supplies Siouxsie vibes to Courchet’s SPIRYT project
HAILING from the Mediterranean coastal city Toulon, Jean-Luc Courchet’s project SPIRYT have just released their goth-infused album, ‘Nepal,’ available exclusively via Bandcamp, and produced in collaboration with Bow Ever Down’s, Kimberly Kornmeier.
“I started music in 1986 when I was the singer and guitarist for a local band called ‘No Answer,’ but we split in 1996,” said Courchet. “Then I started to play solo, stopped to make music for personal raisons until 2018, then came back with SPIRYT. My influences include Siouxsie and the Banshees, Cocteau Twins, Nick Cave and Massive Attack.”
Kornmeier formed Bow Ever Down in 1998 and has since performed at Philadelphia’s Draculas’ Ball, and Trocadero Theatre, and New York’s legendary, CBGB’s.
“I met Kimberly via Facebook on a group called ‘Sounds and Shadows,’ I was mesmerised by her voice,” added Courchet. “I asked if she would like to sing on one of my tracks, she said “OK,” and we made two albums together already, ‘Nepal’ is the third. She brings the light into my dark music, and I’m a complete fan of her voice.”
