Kentucky | The Kintners (bandcamp.com)
“Well, it all started with the first line, ‘If I don’t prosper in Kentucky, it hit the fan for nothin,’” explains Kelly Kintner.
“We had that forever and never could nail down a topic until we landed on Diane Crump. She was the first woman to race in the Kentucky Derby. It was perfect. The next step after we wrote it, was to ask Chip Birge if he’d help us fill it out.
“And ‘The Doc,’ as I call him, not only agreed to help us with mixing and engineering, but also played Hammond, bass, and drums. I’ve known the man for years now from Twitter and he’s up to some of his best stuff right now.
“Keri writes a lot of lyrics here, I just play guitar and harmonize, and me and Keri couldn’t be happier with the results, ‘The Doc’ is pleased as well.
“We tried to give this one to another performer at one point, we were just busy, but they said, “nah, that’s Keri’s song.
“Finally, I want to thank Diane Crump too, for being the kind of woman that opens doors for others, we need more of those.”
