“It’s important to go through change.” OSWALD SLAIN unveil debut EP, ‘Kiss Me On The Mouth’
BRISTOL-based Americana-tinged OSWALD SLAIN today unveil debut EP, ‘Kiss Me On The Mouth,’ released to cassette, and available via all major streaming services.
Recorded from their DIY home studio and mastered by Jason Mitchell at Loud Mastering (PJ Harvey, XTC, Big Special), the EP reflects a period of introspection and growth for vocalist and lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald.
“We spent a couple of weeks in 2024 writing and recording loads of tunes,” he said. “Every day I’d get up and write a couple of ideas and some lyrics, then we’d work together to orchestrate it, finishing the song together and tracking everything there and then. It was all pretty quick, and it was a great way to make music because everything was pretty much written and recorded on the same day. We ended up with around 18 tunes.
“A lot of the EP’s lyrics comes from dealing with constant imposter syndrome and confidence loss. It’s important to go through change as a person but also nice to make it into a positive thing that can be fun and joyful. I was lucky enough to have people around me at the time who were keen to make this music and for that I’ll be forever grateful.”
