‘I See The Sun’ SOLAR EYES – MusicLoveMusic’s Single Of The Year
FROM their triumphant ‘Live Freaky! Die Freaky!’ album, ‘I See The Sun’ from Birmingham-based psych-rockers SOLAR EYES is MusicLoveMusic’s 2026 Single Of The Year.
“I’m delighted this single has been chosen,” said vocalist/guitarist, Glenn Smyth. “It always seems to resonate with people, it is a beautiful track.
“‘I See the Sun’ was the song that set my Manson family fascination off. I wrote it on an old twelve-string acoustic I had. It is about my daughter Dotty, so it means the world to me too. I demo’d it and Jeff Knowler – our mixer and basically third member of Solar Eyes – suggested after hearing it, “Go watch ‘Once upon a time in Hollywood,'” so I did, loved it and then finished the track off. It’s got that spaghetti western feel, I’m a huge Morricone fan.”
“In February we have an EP coming out called ‘Born Freaky!’ which is two new tracks and two remixes. The two new tunes are like off cuts, but sound mega cool. ‘An Eagle Flies Alone’ is a brilliant remix, I’m looking forward to people hearing it. Then we actually might have album three done and out in 2026!”
‘Live Freaky! Die Freaky!’ (Fierce Panda Records), was recorded at Courtyard Studio, Oxfordshire, Ian Davenport responsible for co-production, mixing by long-term collaborator, Jeff Knowler, with drummer Sebastian Maynard Francis completing the Solar Eyes duo.
