HMRC: A tale of uncertain employment from Salford-based, ‘poor effort’

BUILT off British mindsets and begrudging bosses, Salford’s hip-hop, post-punk poet poor effort has just released ‘HMRC.’

Unequal parts Kae Tempest, Gil Scott-Heron and John Cooper Clarke, newcomer MATTY DAGGER sets his beats to stories of uncertain employment.

“’HMRC’ was written off the back of a few first-hand experiences including working under a supervisor who was high on crack, and getting a phone call on payday asking if I would be OK with just half the wage until next month,” he explained.

A Salford session musician who worked late within the confines of dimly lit studios, the punk poetry and bony beats of poor effort portray the essence of bored Britain, yet the song is delivered with passion, folded into a relatable, northern vocal delivery, casting light on the unpleasant corners of British employment opportunities.
