Hasting’s FRANK FROM BLUE VELVET are back and feeling ‘Empty.’ But should they?
THE consistently magnificent Hastings-based FRANK FROM BLUE VELVET are back with ‘Empty,’ an extraordinary, heartfelt tale of bad luck – but only until an exciting meeting changes everything.
Complete with sensual, flamenco guitar sounds courtesy of Andy Neate (Los Twangueros) the song features the band’s trademark post country, baritone vocals.
But don’t be fooled into thinking of the Balearics, there also exists here a subtle, South American, Caribbean mixed-up vibe, more Café del Guevara, than Café del Mar.
“The song tells a gripping tale of relentless misfortune and despair, with the protagonist feeling adrift in an unforgiving sea of bad luck, lost friendships, and fading hope,” said singer, writer, and guitarist, Andrew J Davies.
“But everything changes with a thrilling encounter, meeting someone extraordinary transforms their world from shades of blue to vibrant technicolour. Answers on a holiday postcard if you can work out the genre – a bouncing fusion of strings, marimba, and flamenco guitars that evoke a lively, end-of-summer vibe.”
Following ‘The Lullaby’ and ‘Falling,’ ‘Empty’ will feature on the band’s second album due for release early 2025.
