“Fuck me, we really got something here” Micky Geggus announces PUNCHDRUNK SAINTS debut album
Cockney Rejects founder Micky Geggus announces self-titled debut album from new venture PUNCHDRUNK SAINTS, released October 24 via Cadiz Music.
Along with original Rejects’ bassist, Vinny Riordan, Geggus broke free from the confines of punk rock in 2023, embarking on a journey that took in his first love: hard and heavy, yet melodic, unadulterated rock and roll.
A series of trips to producer Kevin Poree’s Canterbury studio soon followed where a series of tracks developed that would become the basis of the band’s debut album, a mix of heavy anthems and soulful ballads featuring Riordan and drummer, Reg Downer.
And the search for a singer led to an audition at Poree’s studio for the relatively unknown, Marc Salmon.
“He’d done his homework,” said Geggus. “I was blown away by the control and power he demonstrated in that first session. I thought ‘fuck me, we really got something here. This band is gonna be incredible!’”
Unfortunately, neither Riordan nor Downer were able to commit to the band long term, but Geggus found more than worthy replacements in powerhouse drummer Chris Nedzynski, and Leader of the Down bassist, Tim Atkinson.
