Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! SOLAR EYES psych into 2026 with majestic EP ‘Born Freaky!’

BIRMINGHAM-based widescreen psych-rockers SOLAR EYES launch new EP ‘Born Freaky!’ a formidable four-track collection of remixes and off-cuts from last year’s widely acclaimed ‘Live Freaky! Die Freaky!’ album sessions.

“I love it when we do these EPs,” said frontman Glen Smyth, “Last year we did ‘Crooked Orbit,’ and now we’ve done ‘Born Freaky!’ It feels loose and experimental, but worryingly some people prefer these EPs to our albums! But joking aside, I love this reworking and it gives me Death in Vegas and even Depeche Mode vibes.

“’An Eagle Flies Alone’ is probably my favourite off the album, with the strings and the fuzzy vibrato guitar. Then there’s the air of defiance: I’m an eagle, not a pigeon, and I can fly high and alone. I don’t need anyone as such. It’s that escaping-the-cult, ‘fuck ’em’ vibe. The Hibs remix is maybe even better, more immediate.”
