Don’t Call It a Comeback – The Deathray Davies are Running the ‘Red Lights’
OUT of Dallas, Texas, THE DEATHRAY DAVIES offer a glimpse into November’s ‘Lampshade Earthquake Microphone’ long-player (via Having Fun/We Are Busy Bodies) with today’s single, ‘Red Lights.’
Formed almost two decades ago with assistance from Elephant 6 legends Robert Schneider and the late Bill Doss, the band produce a unique blend of garage pop, paisley punk, with an added side of psychedelia.
Following a fifteen-year hiatus, 2021’s ‘Time Well Wasted’ saw the band return to the limelight, however ‘Lampshade Earthquake Microphone’ stretches even further back with music from a shelved recording project from 2006 which was ultimately completed at several studios: DRM and Valve in Dallas, Echo Lab in Denton, and frontman John Dufilho’s home studio Elephant Cloud, where he handled mixing and mastering duties.
