Club POLARTROPICA dreams are free, and ‘Shiny Things’ are everywhere. . .
POLARTROPICA – the stage name of LA-based Taiwanese American musician Ihui Cherise Wu – today launches new single and video for ‘Shiny Things’ the perfect showcase for her unique blend of galactic dream pop.
Named LA Weekly’s Best Indie Pop Band in 2019, Polartropica teams up with Americana legend Gilbert Louie Ray who provides banjo and acoustic guitar, along with guitarist Brandon Graham who also engineered and mixed the track.
“The song was inspired by my father’s love for John Denver and his beautiful cinematic melodies I grew up listening to, as well as sweet classic harmonies of the Everly Brothers, and surfy electric guitars of Beach Boys,” she said.
“This song is about eventually finding it in your heart to learn and grow from all the hard lessons and finally let go with a sense of understanding and acceptance, which is a journey in itself, and coming back home to yourself with love and forgiveness.”
The accompanying video features a swashbuckling adventure of a legendary pirate of the Salton Sea who gets a parking ticket on her ship, directed and filmed in the desert on the hottest day of the year by Tristan Pelletier.
