CLUB BRAT Rebellion bound with new single, EP, video and autumn tour
BRISTOL and London-based dance punks CLUB BRAT announce ‘We Be The Lord’ EP (Venn Records) releases October 2, and today unveil new single and video ‘Dancing With Boys’ – a high-energy clash of styles including LCD Soundsystem and Queens of the Stone Age.
“‘Dancing With Boys’ critiques the performance of authority and masculinity, using provocation and humour to expose absurdity,” said guitarist, Joe Smith. “It isn’t a critique of religion itself; it’s about ego, self-importance, and performative virtue, questioning the confidence with which people claim moral or social authority.
“The humour comes from the contradiction between image and behaviour: symbols of virtue and authority indulge in the same vanity, self-importance, and bravado as the pub geezer, revealing that both often perform the same role – speaking with certainty, demanding attention, and expecting to be believed.”
Originally from Peterborough, the five-piece formed in 2023 and along with Smith comprises Nikola Mitev (drums), Carys Williams (bass), Brad Stringer (guitar), and Ike McCormick (vocs).
