CAIRO KNIFE FIGHT break their seven year silence
ORIGINALLY from New Zealand, but now switchblading their time between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, CAIRO KNIFE FIGHT have just released the ‘Dream Season,’ EP.
“’Dream Season’ is our first collection of songs since our last album ‘Seven’ in 2017,” said Nick Gaffaney (lead vocals, drums, keyboard bass). “Those years have been full of myriad ups and downs, like all lives, so it’s great to see the shore again and be still here, still working.”
The EP’s artwork – crafted by Barny Bewick at Indium Design – is a tribute to Théodore Géricault’s iconic painting, ‘The Raft of the Medusa.’
“We sometimes don’t talk enough about the creative work that surrounds a band, and we’re very fortunate to have a group of creative people who have been there with us since the beginning. That might be the legacy of this band that I’m most proud of,” added Gaffaney.
Included on the EP is a version of 2011’s, ‘The Violence of Action,’ originally written in a storage unit in Christchurch, New Zealand. “This release of ‘The Violence of Action’ feels timely, and it’s still one of my favourite songs, even after all these years. It takes me back to the early days of the band, when we were forcing equipment to do things in the looping world it was never designed to do and running with the inspiration wherever it took us.”
Joining Gaffaney in the band is George Pajon Jr, Grammy winning guitarist for Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, Carlos Santana, Macy Gray, and John Legend.
