BRIEN WORKS THE MAGIC ON PARNELL’S ‘What Can I Do’
CORK’S singer songwriter Seán Parnell today releases his highly anticipated second single, ‘What Can I Do,’ a song offering a fresh and captivating perspective on the complexities of life and love.
“I wrote the song during my first year of studying animation,” he explained. “I was with some friends, and I think we were trying to write something cheesy that a boy band might sing. Then it came together, and I remember being so excited, it was one of the first times I’d written with someone. Before this music was something I did when I was procrastinating animation, but it was around then I realised I could start taking it seriously.”
‘What Can I Do’ holds a special place in Parnell’s heart, initially recorded on a humble €30 microphone, the track was later brought to life by the skilled hands of producer BRIEN (Kojaque and Kean Kavanagh), weaving a narrative of frustration with Irish weather and recurring thoughts of someone, all set against a backdrop of subtle R&B-inspired guitars, a sultry soul riff, and intelligent pop melodies.
‘What Can I Do’ is now available on all major streaming platforms.
