AVATARIUM summon the ghosts of yesteryear’s heavy metal deities with latest single
SUMMONING the ghosts of yesteryear’s heavy metal deities, Swedish doom and hard rock collective AVATARIUM today release the mind-blowing, six minute plus single, ‘Long Black Waves.’
“This is the first song from the new album, a heavy, doomy dark gospel,” said guitarist Marcus Jidell. “It’s a homage to bands like Led Zeppelin, Mountain and Black Sabbath. And as always, we try to find our own twist on things to get the good ol’ Avatarium vibe going. Enjoy!”
‘Long Black Waves’ is taken from the eight-track ‘Between You, God, The Devil And The Dead’ album (due January 2025 via AFM Records) which features the band’s characteristic epic fusion of a doom-laden occult sound and dark, heavy yet melancholic, poetic facets.
“Eighteen months ago we decided to make another album and now it’s written, recorded and mixed,” adds Jidell. “At one point I thought we would never be able to finish it, but here we are now. This album has the doom, the old school heavy metal riffs, the acoustic numbers and the classic dark gospel of Avatarium. I am very proud of what we have achieved and if this is our last album, we’ll definitely end with a bang!”
‘Between You, God, The Devil and The Dead’ was produced and mixed by Marcus Jidell, mastered by Svante Forsbäck (Candlemass, Amorphis), with album artwork created by Erik Rovanpera.
